The first edition of Universal Design for Learning: Theory and Practice, written by Meyer, Rose, and Gordon was published in 2014. In July 2024, we released an updated version of their foundational text—Universal Design for Learning: Principles, Framework, and Practice—with new insights and strategies, as well as a lower price.
We continue to offer the multimedia version of the first edition online at no cost on CAST’s Clusive® platform, ensuring access and encouraging the adoption of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to support learners everywhere.
Clusive is a flexible and customizable digital reading tool developed by CAST and its partners in the federally funded Center on Inclusive Software for Learning (CISL). It contains scaffolds and supports designed with accessibility and UDL in mind.
