Join us on Tuesday, July 21 and Wednesday, July 22, 2026 for dozens of interactive sessions at the UDL-Con: International Live Online virtual conference, the heart of our UDL-Con: International 2026 series of events. We’re also hosting preconference sessions on Monday, July 20, 2026.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) has reshaped how learning is designed by treating learner variability as an asset, not a problem to fix. Around the world, administrators, educators, leaders, designers, and researchers are implementing UDL to dismantle barriers, expand access, and improve learning outcomes. This work is no longer theoretical. It is active, evolving, and increasingly global.

UDL-Con: International Live Online will convene a worldwide community of leaders in education to examine what UDL looks like in practice and what it must become next. Participants will dig into emerging research, real world implementation, and the implications of the Guidelines, while challenging long standing assumptions about teaching, learning, and ability.

UDL-Con is a space for serious learning, bold ideas, and collective progress toward more equitable and effective learning systems.

Monday, July 20, 2026 - Preconference Sessions

All preconference sessions run from 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm ET on Monday, July 20, 2026. All preconference sessions include registration for the UDL Credential Level 1: Mindset.

In this interactive pre-conference session, participants will explore the foundational principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), beginning with the core premise that every learner is variable. Rather than designing for an “average” student, UDL invites educators to anticipate and embrace learner variability from the start.

Together, we will shift our attention to the power of intentional design—examining how curriculum, instruction, and environments can be proactively designed to ensure access, engagement, and agency for all learners. Participants will explore the UDL framework, unpack key concepts, and experience practical examples of how design decisions impact learner outcomes.

This session goes beyond theory. Attendees will have the opportunity to apply UDL principles through hands-on design activities, experimenting with tools and strategies they can immediately transfer to their own contexts.

Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of UDL’s foundational mindset and concrete strategies to begin designing learning experiences that truly work for every learner.

This preconference session includes free registration for the CAST UDL Credential Level 1: Mindset.

Discover practical, ready-to-implement strategies for bringing drones into K–12 classrooms through a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) lens. This interactive webinar will showcase real classroom examples across grade levels and introduce a free drone curriculum developed by CAST, featuring embedded UDL strategies to ensure all learners can engage and thrive. Come ready with questions and join the discussion.

Accessibility in Action: Turning the What, Why, & How of Accessibility into Practice

Accessibility can feel complex, but it doesn’t have to be. This 3-hour preconference breaks down the essentials of accessible educational materials and assistive/accessible technology and shows how they work together with Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

Through guided discussion, examples, and practical application, participants will build a clearer understanding of how accessibility supports learner variability and strengthens everyday instruction. Walk away with actionable ideas and strategies for designing learning that works for all learners from the start.
