Creating effective learning experiences for each student, backed by proven methods, demands innovative strategies, inclusive practices, and continuous professional learning is challenging. To address these barriers, over the last 40 years CAST has developed the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework so educators can create learning environments where every student can thrive.

Dive into the world of UDL with this self-directed, online course tailored for educators spanning PreK-12. This interactive course is designed to provide a flexible opportunity to empower educators with the knowledge, skills, and strategies to effectively implement UDL principles in learning environments, fostering inclusive, engaging, and accessible learning spaces that cater to the diverse needs of students. Gain insight into the UDL principles and guidelines and demonstrate a clear understanding of the UDL framework and practice, access resources, create lesson plans that integrate UDL principles and gain insight into your learning via opportunities for self-reflections.

After taking this course, you can continue your journey in our UDL Beyond the Basics Live Virtual Workshop.

What you will learn

  • How to address the learner variability
  • Strategies to support students to become expert learners
  • Cutting edge research from the learning sciences on UDL
  • How to implement UDL strategies into practice to support quality instruction via the development of a comprehensive UDL implementation plan
