Corgi 2020: Scaling Models for the Classrooms of Tomorrow

Project Description

CAST and the University of Kansas have created Corgi, an innovative suite of tools that marks the next generation of information and graphic organizers. These tools support students to organize and co-organize their learning by engaging with graphic organizers in a digital, flexible, Google App environment that can be integrated into any learning environment. Early research has revealed promising results: Corgi has supported middle school students with and without disabilities to make significant gains in both science and U.S. history.

Given these exciting findings, the Corgi 2020 project focuses on supporting more teachers to bring this innovative suite of tools to their STEM classrooms. In collaboration with middle school teachers, we are co-designing resources—use case scenarios, sample lesson plans and activities, videos, and more—all with the goal of supporting the implementation of Corgi in the classroom. These resources will live on a professional learning platform designed to facilitate networking and sharing among educators. Our goal is to work with a diversity of teachers to co-design the support that they need to leverage Corgi to engage all students in rich and meaningful STEM learning.
