National AEM Center Announces Upgrades to the AEM Pilot, a Web-based Self-Assessment Tool for the Quality Indicators

This free tool guides self-assessment and progress monitoring activities that are grounded in the experiences of states and districts utilizing the Quality Indicators for Providing AEM and Accessible Technologies.
Teachers, education leaders, and other professionals, including educational technology companies, can demonstrate their knowledge, application, and incorporation of UDL by earning a credential or product certification from CAST.
Through our learning events, CAST and the UDL-IRN connect participants from preK–12, higher education, workforce, and informal learning environments with experts who understand how to reach learners in the most effective way possible.
Senior Research Scientist
As a Senior Research Scientist, Jenna W. Gravel works to connect research and practice by supporting educators to apply UDL to the classroom in order to engage all learners in rich, sophisticated learning opportunities. Specifically, Dr. Gravel’s research explores the intersections of UDL and disciplinary thinking in English Language Arts (ELA) and the ways that these intersections can promote diverse learners’ engagements in discipline-specific practices, commitments, and habits of mind. She studies these themes by drawing from approaches that emphasize partnerships between researchers and practitioners in order to examine interventions through iterative cycles of inquiry. She seeks to explore how these research-practice collaborations can serve as meaningful sources of professional learning for educators.
As a Research Scientist, Beth Fornauf uses her background in qualitative research, disability studies, and teacher learning to support CAST projects at various stages of research and development.
CAST offers recommendations to the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) to improve its proposed accommodations for students with disabilities who take PARCC’s large-scale assessment. The accommodations in question concern writing.
Through the work of CAST and 14 other founding partners, families have an innovative digital resource where they can come to understand their children's learning and attention issues.
