Title: From Artificial to Assistive: AI Literacy, Accessibility, and Universal Design
True student success exists at the intersection of academic rigor and emotional resilience. In this session, we explore how CAST’s Circle Up program amplifies the natural alignment between Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). The result of a multi-year research project, Circle Up redefines the inclusive classroom by using SEL as a strategic lever for systemic change, weaving together affective neuroscience and instructional design to support every K-12 learner.
By integrating evidence-based models like Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS) and Check & Connect mentoring into the existing UDL framework, Circle Up identifies and reduces design barriers while prioritizing self-regulation and motivation. Participants will discover how this framework fosters learner agency and improves student feedback loops, offering a blueprint for using UDL as an entry point for deeper SEL implementation—or vice versa.
Whether you are a teacher, specialist, researcher, or school administrator, join us to bridge the gap between theory and practice and see how the Circle Up framework empowers students to become true expert learners.
