Niel Albero is a Senior Professional Learning and Implementation Specialist at CAST, where he partners with schools and districts to bring the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework to life across classrooms and leadership teams. His work helps educators translate UDL from theory into sustainable, system-wide practice that supports all learners.

A storyteller at heart, Niel grounds big ideas in practical strategies and real-world applications. He is known for unpacking complex practices step by step, making new learning accessible and actionable for every educator. As a maker and a tinkerer, he constantly iterates on content and tools to support inclusive, responsive learning environments.

Whether leading sessions on elementary math discourse and content knowledge, analyzing curriculum to meet all learners’ needs, building classrooms that strengthening students’ executive function, or supporting systems-level change, Niel sees himself as a co-designer—bringing out the best in each collaborator to generate shared ownership and innovation. He is especially proud of his work with large districts to build professional learning networks that transform isolated workshops into district-wide visions and movements focused on creating access and agency for all learners.

Passionate about continuous improvement, Niel guides districts in embedding reflective practices—such as instructional rounds, lesson study, and data-driven PLCs—so teams can proactively identify and dismantle barriers to learning. Under his facilitation, schools cultivate the capacity to learn about themselves, adapt to emerging challenges, and foster inclusive, student-centered cultures.
