Project Name
Choose Love & UDL: Bringing Social Emotional Learning into New Hampshire Prisons

Project Description

CAST is partnering with the New Hampshire Department of Corrections to  help implement the Choose Love™ social emotional learning (SEL) and character development curriculum in courses and classrooms throughout the corrections environment.

New Hampshire adopted Choose Love, founded by Sandy Hook mom Scarlett Lewis, for implementation in K-12 schools statewide. In adopting the curriculum for the corrections system, New Hampshire and the Choose Love team reached out to CAST for support in making the curriculum more flexible and barrier-free for participants with diverse backgrounds, skills, and educational experience.

Using the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework, the CAST team redesigned the Choose Love activities, discussions, and assessments to account for variability of the learning environments and of learners themselves.
