CAST partners with the New Hampshire-based Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute to seek ways to help students from diverse and underrepresented populations choose and embark on STEM careers.

When CAST first began publishing for teachers about UDL, we still saw printed books as the primary medium, supplemented by digital enhancements and supports. Now the printed text supplements what's online. Universal Design for Learning: Theory and Practice is an online multimedia "book" that includes contributions from dozens of educators in the field.

The AccessATE project goal is to support the ATE community and provide grantees with the tools and knowledge to increase the accessibility and usability of their resources and activities. CAST will be providing technical assistance on accessibility and Universal Design for Learning to ATE Centers and ATE research grants.

CAST has partnered with Arizona State University to develop and evaluate the impact of a professional learning ecosystem to support 7th and 8th-grade teachers in providing more effective writing instruction to students with high-incidence disabilities.

In 2006, CAST joined with several organizations to form the National UDL Task Force, an interdisciplinary coalition that advocates support for UDL in federal, state, and local policy. The Task Force has successfully advocated for the inclusion of UDL in the federal Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 and in various policy directives from the US Department of Education.
