• CEE-STEM: Exploring STEM Careers with Opportunity Youth

  

  The CEE-STEM project team is seamlessly embedding a new STEM career exploration and engagement tool (STEMfolio) within the YouthBuild program in order to help build learners’ foundational STEM knowledge, skills, and dispositions while also supporting opportunity youth in connecting their interests, readiness, skills, and aptitudes toward relevant STEM career pathways.

• Learning Outside the Box: Co-Developing a CTE Pathway in Outdoor Recreation

  

  Through this project, a competency-based Outdoor Recreation pathway will be developed within the existing Career & Technical Education (CTE) programming in the region. Additionally, extended learning opportunity content will be developed with the Outdoor Recreation competencies to create work-based learning opportunities for students that don’t have access to CTE programs.

• UDL Video Club: Building Teacher Capacity to Reach All Learners

  

  The Virtual UDL Video Club is a unique professional learning opportunity for educators to collaborate to design engaging, accessible, and challenging learning environments for all students, particularly students who have been traditionally marginalized.

• CTEfolio: Supporting Hands-on Learning in a Remote Environment

  

  This UDL-based e-portfolio will help CTE teachers in Brockton and Somerville, MA create relevant learning opportunities that close the gap between skill development and skill demonstration. The innovative features inherent in CTEfolio will allow educators to create flexible assignments and students to show what they know in multiple ways.

• CAST Partners with New Hampshire Prisons to Apply UDL to “Choose Love” Curriculum

  

  Using the Universal Design for Learning framework, the CAST team redesigned the Choose Love activities, discussions, and assessments to account for variability of the learning environments and learners within the New Hampshire Department of Corrections.

• REVISE Center: A Collaborative Effort to Advance Equity in Informal STEM Education

  

  CAST is working as a part of the web infrastructure team (collaborating with the Director of Digital Infrastructure and Virtual Community and the Director of Operations and Communication for the REVISE Center) to advise and consult on creating tools for the AISL Equity Resource Center, specifically, the materials and products created and posted on the AISL website.

• Developing a UDL Micro-Credential for CTE Educators: One District’s Approach

  

  The micro-credential and accompanying curriculum focus on one aspect of the UDL Guidelines, Checkpoint 8.1: Heighten salience of goals and objectives. The materials and resources are all designed to help CTE educators understand how they can use UDL to help learners sustain their effort and persistence.  The materials include tangible strategies and examples specifically for CTE teachers, administrators, and staff.

• Writer's Key: Online Tool Supports Middle School Writers

  

  Researchers from CAST and Arizona State University developed and tested Writer’s Key, a web-based tool that guides and supports middle-school students in writing argumentative (persuasive) and informational (expository) compositions.

• SNUDLE: Scaling an Inclusive Solution to Sensemaking in Science

  

  The goal of this project was to create a suite of implementation tools and professional learning resources for scaled and effective use of CAST’s evidence-based Science Notebook in a Universal Design for Learning Environment (SNUDLE).
