CAST is thrilled to announce the launch of a Young Adult Advisory Board to support the community-driven process to update the UDL Guidelines.

Over the past two years, CAST has been connecting with a diversity of stakeholders to learn from their experiences and ideas for updating the Guidelines to address systemic barriers and to create learning spaces that more fully honor and value all learners. We know that an important part of this work is learning from young people themselves.

The Young Adult Advisory Board will support and inform the process of reenvisioning the UDL Guidelines through an equity lens. The Board aims to center and amplify the perspectives of young people as we engage in this work. The Board will be comprised of young adults ages 18-22 who are eager to share their ideas for how to create more equitable learning environments through the dimensions of race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, socioeconomic status, language, disability, and/or citizenship and nationality. We hope to gather together a community of young people who are passionate about disrupting barriers due to bias and creating culturally affirming spaces that foster a sense of belonging and encourage learners to thrive.

The Young Adult Advisory Board will run from May 2023 – May 2024 and will meet virtually six times over the course of the year (with a possibility of one of our meetings being in person). Meeting days/times will be flexible according to Board members’ schedules. A small honorarium will be provided.
