CAST Partners with Inclusive Learning 365 Authors

CAST is delighted to announce a partnership with the authors of Inclusive Learning 365: Edtech Strategies for Every Day of the Year published by ISTE. Chris Bugaj, Karen Janowski, Mike Marotta, and Beth Poss are passionate about supporting educators in the use of technology to design learning opportunities that are inclusive, equitable, and accessible and that meet the needs of every learner. The team will join the Center on Inclusive Technology & Education Systems (CITES) team at CAST to host learning opportunities for educators involved in the CITES Community of Practice.

The dates for the series start in December 2022 and run through February 2023. CITES Community of Practice members can sign up for one session or all three.

  • December 6, 2022, 3:00–4:00 pm ET: Let’s Talk Inclusive Mindset + Literacy Supports 
  • January 24, 2022, 3:00–4:00 pm ET: Let’s Talk Research/Studying, Executive Function, and SEL 
  • February 14, 2022, 3:00–4:00 pm ET: Let’s Talk Cross Content Areas + Professional Learning

The CITES Community of Practice works to mobilize professionals interested in developing and sustaining inclusive technology and education systems as part of a cross-discipline, collaborative group of professionals. The collective is focused on sharing knowledge and experiences; problem-solving barriers; documenting lessons learned and celebrating successes. All are welcome!

About the Inclusive Learning 365 Authors

Christopher Bugaj is a founding member of the Assistive Technology Team for Loudoun County Public Schools in Virginia and the author of The New Assistive Tech: Make Learning Awesome for All. He is co-host of the “Talking With Tech” podcast, which explores augmentative and alternative communication. He has delivered over 300 live or digital sessions at local, regional, and international events.

Karen Janowski is an assistive and educational technology consultant, a former adjunct professor at Simmons College in Boston, and president and owner of EdTech Solution, Inc, in Massachusetts, which provides assistive technology and augmentative and alternative communication professional development, coaching, consultations, and assessments throughout the Greater Boston area.

Mike Marotta is a Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North American (RESNA) Certified AT Professional and the Richard West Assistive Technology Advocacy Center director at Disability Rights New Jersey. He’s also an Adjunct Professor at Ramapo College of New Jersey where he teaches master’s courses in assistive technology and UDL.

Beth Poss is a speech-language pathologist, education and technology consultant, accessibility advocate, and former assistant principal. She is currently the Director of Educational Programs for LessonPix. In her work with school districts, universities, and national and state-level organizations, she focuses on how Universal Design for Learning is an essential component in designing equitable and inclusive learning environments.
