As one of the Implementation Specialists for the California Coalition for Inclusive Literacy (CCIL), Katie collaborates with and supports educators to improve teaching and learning for all learners with a focus on inclusive literacy and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
Katie has 18 years of experience serving in public education in the South Bay Area in Northern California, 11 years in the Alum Rock School District, and 6 in the Oak Grove School District before joining the CCIL project with CAST and the Inclusion Collaborative as a Coordinator of Inclusive Literacy at the Santa Clara County Office of Education. Her experience has focused on curriculum and instructional design, the power of race and identity work for educators and students, MTSS implementation, designing and supporting induction, and new teacher mentorships, literacy and language supports for all. Her heart truly lies in ensuring access and equity for every student. She is thrilled to be part of the team on the CCIL project, as it is bridging together all the pieces and components she finds most integral to ensuring every student has opportunity to remove barriers and achieve at high levels of being an expert learner.
