UDL Solutions Finder Tool

1. Identify Barriers

Since no curriuclum or lesson is fully universally designed, almost anything you teach could probably be more flexible and reach more diverse learners than it currently does. To find the barriers, follow these steps.

Choose a lesson or unit, and list the primary materials, teaching methods, options for student expression and assessment in the Materials and Methods Column below.

Next list the barriers that some of your students might encounter in the curriculum as currently designed. Remember to include missed opportunities, which can undermine engagement.

Finally, note which learning network or networks (recognition, strategy, affect) involved in each learning barrier.
