| Tools to Support UDL:Graphic Organizers | |||

Overview: This section demonstrates how graphic organizers can be used to support UDL in classroom instruction. Presenter Instructions: Follow the slides, illustrate how graphic organizers are used in instruction, demonstrate the graphic organizing software, Inspiration®, and offer hands-on instruction for creating graphic organizers with Inspiration®. In order to facilitate this session, be familiar with the research supporting the effectiveness of graphic organizers, and become well versed with the software program Inspiration®. If unfamiliar with Inspiration, download and install a free 30-day trail version from www.inspiration.com and go through the Quick Start Tutorial http://www.inspiration.com/tutorials/index.cfm?fuseaction=insp. Prior to the session, make sure all participant computers have the following software programs installed: Inspiration® Web browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, etc.) You and the participants will also need access to the Internet. One way to help make a curriculum more supportive of students and teachers
is to incorporate graphic organizers. Graphic organizers come in many
varieties and have been widely researched for their effectiveness in
improving learning outcomes for various students. |
