Goals that Support UDL Teaching
A goal that supports UDL teaching needs to be clear but not so specific that
there is only one acceptable pathway to its achievement or only one level of
success that constitutes mastery.
Look for language that specifies the content, media, materials, or approaches
for obtaining information. Look for language that restricts student expression
to one medium or limits the content students can work with. Look for language
that specifies a particular level of achievement. Keeping your eye on the true
learning goal, take out that language where it is irrelevant, leaving a wider
array of options for students. When multiple pathways are available, students
with different learning needs can all work towards the same goals.
