Setting

Teacher working with three students

Ms. Randall teaches in the only middle school in a rural school district in Idaho. There are 50 teachers on staff. She teaches sixth grade math to students of all ability levels. She holds state certification in Elementary Education. She has taken several professional development courses focused on both math content and pedagogy to prepare her for this teaching assignment.

The school has a total enrollment of 974 students in Grades 6-8, of which approximately 12% of the students have learning disabilities, including English Language Learners.
