Project Name
Professional Learning Online Modules: Improving High School Science with Online Courses for Teachers

Description

CAST is creating a suite of online professional learning courses for high school science teachers to teach the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
The courses provide an introduction to UDL principles and explore ways to use the UDL framework to create lessons that align to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The emphasis on science will also allow teachers to help students meet college and career-ready standards nationwide, including Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
While teachers are feeling newly taxed by the need to integrate multiple sets of new performance standards into their instructional practice, the CCSS and NGSS actually hold great potential for integration in the support of student learning.
These UDL professional learning courses will help to build communities of practice among educators and encourage the development and sharing of secondary school resources.
