Instructional Designer & Research Associate
As an Instructional Designer and Research Associate, Jen helps design and research educational materials and programs that are accessible, engaging, and learner-centered. She applies UX Design principles and lessons learned as a teacher and educator-trainer to guide the development and assessment of new and innovative educational tools.
Prior to joining CAST, she worked as a high school special education teacher and Teach for America corps member in Chalmette, Louisiana. In this role she supported students with a wide variety of learning, social, and emotional differences in their studies of algebra, geometry, and pre-calculus. She also coached a running club at this school, and ran her first half marathon alongside her students through Youth Run NOLA. Additionally, Jen has experience working in preschool programs for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, programs for dual language learners, and programs for children experiencing homelessness. In her spare time Jen enjoys running, spending time with her niece, and watching the Boston Red Sox.
I love witnessing the magic that occurs when groups of students work together to deepen one another’s understanding. This same magic happens in workplaces when people of different backgrounds and with different patterns of thinking come together to creatively solve problems.
