Cynthia is one of the newest members of CAST having joined as Development Associate at the beginning of 2019. As a member of the Development team, Cynthia helps advance the mission of CAST through our fundraising efforts, specifically with individual giving.
Cynthia has a professional background in Human Services and Education, so Development represents a career switch for her. When she decided to go to graduate school, she knew she either wanted to focus on social work or special education. Cynthia selected an M.Ed. Program at Lesley University but in her final year she realized it wasn't what she really wanted. She completed her program without becoming certified, and from there, worked for several local school districts in different capacities from professional development to administrative and database support. In the meantime, she fostered and then adopted two little boys, both with special needs. She found raising and advocating for her two sons filled her inner teacher and social worker need, but she still wasn’t happy professionally. She knew she loved writing and working with mission-driven organizations. She volunteered for several through the years, even volunteering as a grant writer. She absolutely loved it. With that realization, she started looking for something full-time and permanent in development, and this is how she ended up at CAST. She feels like it’s never too late in life to go for what you want!
