Boris Goldowsky coordinates CAST's technology strategy and supervises the development of software products and experimental prototypes. He joined CAST in 2005 with 10 years experience in using technology to facilitate learning and access to information.
At Pearson Education, he led the technology team responsible for a dozen educationally-focused websites for schools, teachers, parents, and students (including FunBrain, TeacherVision, School Cash, and Family Education Network).
As the head of technology at Information Please LLC, he helped put a line of almanacs on the Web and build an extensive general-reference website around them (infoplease.com). Later he led the launch of a companion website for kids (factmonster.com). He has also consulted in software engineering, information architecture, and adoption of open standards and open-source software.
Dr. Goldowsky received his Ph.D. in Cognitive Science from the University of Rochester, where he conducted research comparing children's learning of language with their learning of other complex systems, as well as projects on learning in dolphins and artificial intelligence systems. He also holds a bachelor of science degree from MIT.
