James Westra

Partner, Hutchins, Wheeler & Ditmar

James Westra joined CAST's Board of Directors in 1992 and was elected Chairman in 2001. He has been a partner of the law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP since 2002. From 1977 to 2002, Mr. Westra was a partner of the law firm Hutchins, Wheeler & Ditmar.

As a corporate and securities attorney, Mr. Westra specializes in venture capital transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and public and private financings, and has served often as counsel to boards of directors with respect to corporate governance matters. He has represented several of the leading private equity firms in connection with a number of major investments and acquisitions of both public and private companies.

Mr. Westra has been involved in numerous charitable and non-profit activities. In addition to serving as Chairman of the CAST Board of Directors, he is currently an Overseer of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and a member of the board of the Boston Rescue Mission, an organization dedicated to meeting the needs of the homeless.

Mr. Westra received an A.B. from Harvard College in 1973 and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law in 1977.
