Markay Winston

As Director for the Department of Student Services in Cincinnati, Ohio, Markay L. Winston, Ph.D., provides district-level oversight for special education and related services, district crisis response, homeless education, school health, and English as a second language. She has successfully led multiple district wide efforts to strengthen access to the core curriculum for diverse learners through a three-tiered integrated systems change model of intervention.

Dr. Winston has worked tirelessly in advocating for the unique needs of diverse learners. In addition, she has promoted an increased awareness of core curriculum and instructional technology skills on behalf of district employed intervention specialists and English as a second language teachers.

Dr. Winston is actively involved at the regional, state and national levels on issues involving special education, curriculum access through technology, leadership development, and assessment.
