Michael B. Sladden

Private Equity Investment Consultant

Michael Sladden is a New York City-based private equity investment consultant who in recent years has worked with a US-based feature film producer, a Berlin-based “Light and Fireworks” artist, and a Paris-based telecoms fund. He has a multicultural background, including years of working and living overseas, and of managing products and businesses across countries and organizational constraints.

He joined CAST’s board in 2005, having learned about the organization through his late wife Elspeth Sladden, an early childhood/K-12 learning specialist and a pioneer in the use of computers for classroom instruction.

From 1994-2001, Mr. Sladden was principal of the Chatterjee Group in New York, where he helped manage the Soros Fund Management’s $2.6 billion Quantum Industrial Partners Fund. From 1989-1993, Mr. Sladden was Chief of Staff and Head of Management Reporting at Salomon, Inc., inNew York. From 1974-1986, he was Chief of Staff and Chief Financial Officer for Citibank’s Consumer Services–International Group before becoming Chief Operating Officer and an Organizing Shareholder/Board Member for a Hong Kong-based apparel manufacturing company. He has also worked for McKinsey & Company, SRI International, and Arthur Young & Co.

Mr. Sladden holds an MBA from Stanford University and a B. Comm.–Economics from Victoria University in New Zealand. He is a Chartered Accountant, a Cost and Management Accountant, and a Chartered Secretary. Widowed, with two grown children, he has lived in New York for the past 27 years.
